Frederick Overly Land Grants in Ross County, Ohio

October 8, 1805

Frederick Overly, the father of Elizabeth (Overly) Tharp, was granted land in Ross County, Ohio. This land eventually went to Joseph Tharp and his siblings.

Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States of America to all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: know ye that Frederick Overley of Ross County Ohio, having deposited in the Treasury, a certificate of the Register of the Land office at Chillicothe whereby it appears that he has made full payment for the Southeast quarter of Lot or section number Thirty three of Township Nine in Range number Twenty one (Worthington's survey) of the Lands, directed to be sold at Chillicothe by the act of Congress entitled an act to amend the act entitled "An act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the territory Northwest of the Ohio and above the mouth of Kentucky River." There is granted by the United in pursuance of the act aforesaid unto the said Frederick Overley the Quarter Lot or section of Land above described, to have and to hold the said Quarter Lot of Section of Land with the appurtenances unto the said Frederick Overly, his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof I have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the seal of the United States to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand at the city of Washington, the Eighth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five and of the Independence of the United State of America the Thirteenth.

In testimony whereof I have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the seal of the United States to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand at the city of Washington, the 18th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six and of the Independence of the United State of America the Thirteenth.
