Mrs. McCarter Passes Suddenly

Mrs. Nancy McCarter died at the home of her son, Mr. J.W. McCarter, July 21st, 1928. She was aged 65 years 3 months and 30 days.

Nancy Celia Carter was born in Ashe County, North Carolina, March 22, 1863 and in the year 1879 at Jefferson, N.C. was married to Mr. George C. McCarter. To this union, thirteen children were born, ten of whom survive and were present at the funeral except two, J.B. McCarter of Santiago, Chile and Mrs. A.S. Bryan of Ft. Pierce, Florida. They are J.L. McCarter, Mrs. H.G. McCullough, and Mrs. B. Hunt of Kansas City; W.V. McCarter and Mrs. C.J. Windisch of Louisburg, Kansas. Miss Mamie McCarter of emporia, Kansas, C.L. McCarter of Bixby, Oklahoma, J.W. McCarter of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. A.S. Bryan of Fort Pierce Florda and J.B. McCarter of Santiago, Chile.

From Virginia the family moved to Belton, Missouri, in 1894 and later in 1898 moved to a farm near Louisburg, Kansas and have lived in and around this community until death. Mrs. McCarter was a member of the Louisburg Methodist church and after a long, busy and useful life she died as she had lived - honored, trusted, and loved by all who knew her. Mr. McCarter passed away March 25, 1916. Besides the children the deceased is survived by fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the C.J. Windisch home, Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A.C. Asling and burial was in the Louisburg cemetery. Four sons and two grandsons acted as pall bearers.
