Elliot May passed away at his home January 25th, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 15 days. He was born at Meadville, Pennsylvania, August 10, 1829. At the age of 15 years, he with the family moved to DeKalb county, Illinois, where he lived until 1870, when he moved to Delaware county. He later purchased a farm near Lindsay bridge, living there until 1898, when they moved to Lamont. His home has been there since, except one year in Manchester. Mr. May was married 3 times, the last time to Mrs. Mary Morris, who survives him, and 1 son, Boyd, who is in the west. The funeral was held Thursday in te M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Bretnall, the body being taken to Manchester for burial. Mr. May was a man of good habits and had a large number of friends who mourn his loss.

Elliot May was born in Meadville, Crawford county, Pennsylvania, on August 10, 1829. His parents [Thomas C. May and Jane Moyers] moved to DeKalb county Illinois when he was 15 years old. He grew to young manhood at this place and then engaged in farming for himself. He removed to Iowa about 1871, settling on a farm near Manchester, which he occupied until he retired from business. He was married 3 times. His last wife was Mary Morris, who survives him. He was married to her at Manchester, Iowa, October 3rd, 1883. Also he is survived by a son, Boyd May, who resides in Utah; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dibble of Kingston, Illinois. In October, 1898, they retired from the farm and took up residence in Lamont, Iowa.
